Message from founder and President, John Hudec:
In 1987, Hudec Construction Company was founded to service small, quick-turn specialty contracts. The very first side jobs were plastic laminate projects for various general contractors, architects, and owners. The first production shop was the two-car garage at the residence of my parents, John and Phyllis Hudec. It was in this garage that my father and I worked, literally around the clock at times, to complete these early millwork projects. The early days saw an emphasis on small general contracting projects for various new construction and remodeling, as well as millwork projects. It was during these days that our understanding of real customer service began to take shape.
This understanding fostered the idea of providing a level of service to our customers that could not be paralleled by any other company presently serving them. This commitment has never changed throughout the years. After about nine years in business, our focus shifted from general contracting and millwork to becoming a complete architectural millwork shop. With heavy encouragement from our small clientele base, we began to focus our energies on building the millwork aspect of the business. These efforts eventually spawned our niche within the industry. It was at this time, we began to brand our company as Hudec Woodworking Co. From the early confines of the two-car shop, we moved to a facility in Highland, Indiana. We occupied three different tenant spaces within this building for nine years. In 1996, we designed and built our present facility on Ivanhoe Ct. in Griffith, Indiana. This operation was a dream realized for all who worked in the cramped quarters of our Highland shop.
