Project Description

Bacardi at the Park is now called CHISOX Bar & Grill.  It’s a 14,000 square foot restaurant with exterior terrace located on the site of the old Comiskey Park north of US Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox. The client supported an industrial, loft-like expression. In response, the designers selected a materials palette including built-up steel plate, glass, stone, and wood panels composed in and around the existing concrete structural frame.

Openings created in the newly constructed second level floor slab provide a connection of the upper and lower spaces at both the restaurant entry to the north and at the existing storefront facing the stadium to the south.

74 flat-screen monitors were organized to optimize view angles from as many locations as possible while reinforcing the composition of the spaces.

This project was selected for submission into the 2011 AIA Design Nite submission.
